Conceptual Design

We establish a brief and gain an understanding of your interior style, how you want your space to look and feel, scope of work + a preliminary budget. In addition we:

  • Work on floor plans to maximise flow and function

  • Create a colour-coded floor plan

  • Present you with conceptual images including furniture, lighting and finishes (eg. timber floorboards, bathroom tiles, kitchen stone).

Design Development

A more detailed design is fleshed out, including:

  • Plans and elevations of kitchens, bathrooms and joinery

  • Preliminary designs of features like fireplaces, stairs and balustrades

  • Lighting design + research and selection of lighting fixtures

  • Research and initial selection of finishes, fixtures & fittings (eg. tapware, door hardware, joinery handles) and appliances.

Documentation

Detailed plans and schedules for builders to work from are created, enabling you to go to tender and gather quotes for your project. This includes:

  • Floor plans, elevations, sections, wet area (bathroom, kitchen) and joinery drawings.

  • Schedules of finishes, fittings & fixtures, lighting, joinery & appliance selections

  • Ettie Tom liaising and collaborating with architects, builders, engineers and any relevant consultants (eg. A/C) to ensure accurate plans

Construction and Design Management

As your project takes shape Ettie Tom conducts site visits to ensure the design intent is being communicated through the construction process. This includes:

  • Reviewing shop drawings from the company supplying joinery

  • Reviewing shop drawings from the company supplying stone

  • Working collaboratively with architects, builders, suppliers and contractors to ensure the design vision is realised

Interior Decoration

Whether you’ve just bought a new property or have worked with Ettie Tom throughout your build, the final design phase is selecting soft furnishings, window dressings and artwork to make your new house feel like home. We present images of suggested pieces, quotes, organise showroom visits, manage ordering and receive deliveries on site. Finally, your rooms will be styled and professionally photographed.
